Seeing Others Through God's Eyes

When you see a drug addict or a homeless person on the street do you think: "There but for the grace of God, go I?" Or do you secretly feel you're better than them? Come on - be honest! Our society admires beauty, power and money, including those who flaunt God's laws to get it; they think net-worth equals self-worth. Seeing others through God's eyes switches your focus from the package to the contents.  

God says, "Pride lands you flat on your face" ^{Proverbs 29:23 TM} Why? Because it blinds you to the truth.  
Pride made Adam and Eve want to play God. ^{(Genesis 3:5)}
Wounded pride caused Joseph's brothers to sell him into slavery. ^{(Genesis 37:8)}
Pride made King Saul so jealous, he wanted to kill David, "the competition." (1 Samuel 18:8)
Pride made Hezekiah reveal his nation's wealth to the enemy. ^{(Isaiah 39:2)}
Pride caused the disciples to compete for the top spot in God's Kingdom.^{(Luke 9:46)}
Pride is why "We bless God...with the same tongues we curse [look down on]...men and women He made in His image."   Next time you see someone caught in a trap of their own making, remember, the only difference between them and you - is God! Listen:
"When he saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion... because they fainted... as sheep having no shepherd" ^{Matthew 9:36}
Jesus didn't see people as bad; He saw them as lost! Once you begin to do that, you're seeing them through God's eyes. (c) Gary Austin
